Soviet October Revolution Parade, 1979 Парад 7 ноября
Descripción del material:
This is the parade in Moscow's Red Square, devoted to the 62nd anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution, 7 November, 1979. This event took place during a very turbulant time in the world. Just three days before this anniversary the US Iranian hostage crisis began (an event that would last 444 days), and the USSR was preparing to invade Afghanistan (which would begin on December 24th) - An event which would bring an end to Détente (relaxation of tensions). This can be considered the last "good times" parade where the Soviet Union was in a state of peace and Cold War tensions weren't extreme. Presiding over the military parade is Minister of Defense of the USSR, Marshal of the Soviet Union; Dmitriy Ustinov. Commanding the parade commander of the Moscow Military District, General of the Army; Vladimir Govorov. Music performed by the Moscow Military District Orchestra, directed by Colonel Nikolai Mikhailov.
